I actually start the Technical Productions program at Sheridan in September, so I can’t tell you much first hand about what it’s like. From what I’ve heard though it’s fantastic, and you’ll be working on shows right away during your first year. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the program, and all the techies I talked to last year were satisfied with choosing Sheridan. The benefit of going to Ryerson though is that you would be getting a BFA… but Sheridan’s tuition is much cheaper.
Last year though I did Performing Arts - Prep at Sheridan, which was just a 1 year program that put you through acting, singing, dance, and tech classes. If you’re confident about SMing then it probably wouldn’t be very helpful for you, but if you’re torn between acting or backstage stuff, it can help you decide what it is you would like to pursue.
If you want to get back in contact with me later on in the year when I start the program, feel free. I love telling people about what I’m doing, and I’ll probably have more information then.
